A lot of work must be done to ensure the media accurately portrays and represents girls and women. As a volunteer, you can play an important role in MediaWatch’s work by monitoring the media. The goal of monitoring is to collect information on how the media represents and portrays girls and women. Monitoring means that you will help collect, survey and evaluate the media. This is important because everyday we see thousands of media images and it takes a lot of people to survey all the images out there. Your volunteer work helps people make complaints and help keep MediaWatch supporters and volunteers informed of what is happening.

It will take a lot of work to change the media to ensure that girls and women are represented and displayed in all of their physical, racial, economical, religious and cultural diversities of females. But with your help it will be a lot easier!! So, join us today!

  • Television
  • Radio
  • Music Videos
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers

Volunteering for MediaWatch is simple and easy! All you need to do is,

  1. Decide on which media medium you want to monitor
  2. Contact MediaWatch to let us know you want to volunteer
  3. Complete the MediaWatch on-line volunteer form
  4. Then wait for your volunteer package in the mail. The package includes a definition sheet, monitoring forms and guide to help you get started.
